NASA and Google sign an agreement

NASA Ames Research Center and Google have completed a "Space Act Agreement" first announced by Google CEO Eric Schmidt in September 2005. Google and the government space agency will team up on an array of projects from "large-scale data management and massively distributed computing, to human-computer interfaces."

Announcement from Google:
As the first in a series of joint collaborations, Google and Ames will focus on making the most useful of NASA's information available on the Internet. Real-time weather visualization and forecasting, high-resolution 3-D maps of the moon and Mars, real-time tracking of the International Space Station and the space shuttle will be explored in the future. This is a big deal when it comes to prodcasting live feeds on the weather, the moon,Mars.

At TrendMania we anticipate for the next Google step on this matter.

How users read a Website (Study)

Studies have shown that users read web content fast. Within a few seconds users scan their monitors in an F shaped pattern. First they read horizontally from left to right, usually at the top of the page first. Finally the typical user scans the left hand side of the screen vertically. The picture below was taken by special eye tracking cameras setup by Nielsen Norman Group.

This is a great tool to use when designing layouts. Obviously the most important information, such as the company logo, should be place in the upper left-hand corner. This study also shows that left sidebar navigation is best. This study has shown that people do not read every word of text on your website. When designing your website layout, it is important to remember this study when placing content.

LG'S BEST FRIDGE

This new cool fridge from LG has no telly up front, but LG’s innovative coolbox still makes entertaining a dream.

See, there’s a handy flap to access your fridge most important contents, like juices, alcochol etc.

Designed to get the atmosphere at dinner parties warmed up in a jiffy, the ice cool Home Bar Side-by-Side refrigerator also chucks out ice and filtered water from its door-mounted dispenser.

That tiny door makes the LG cheap to run too, as opening it up instead of the main door conserves energy when all you need is a quick tipple.

Kansai International Airport

Kansai International Airport is the main international airport of Japan's Kansai region, including the cities of Osaka, Kyoto and Kobe. Built on an artificial island at exorbitant cost, it is somewhat underutilized and thus possibly a better entry point than perennially crowded Narita Airport in Tokyo.

The airport has a single terminal, reputedly the longest building in the world at 1.7 kilometers from end to end. Arrivals are on the 1st floor, while departures are from the 4th floor. On arrival, note that not all ATMs accept foreign cards, but the Citibank and post office ATMs do.
