Intels Core Duo Processor & Apple

The Intel Core 2 Duo uses Intel’s groundbreaking 65-nanometer process — resulting in transistors so small, you could fit a hundred inside a single human cell. With smaller distances for electrons to travel, and two execution cores designed to share resources and conserve power, the Intel Core 2 Duo achieves higher levels of performance as it uses fewer watts. Which is what makes it possible to design a super-powerful MacBook Pro that’s only one inch thin.

Combined with 4MB L2 cache and a myriad of other engineering leaps, the Intel Core 2 Duo boosts performance up to 39% higher than the previous MacBook Pro and over 7x higher than the fastest PowerBook G4.(1) With this awesome power, it’s a breeze to render complex 3D models, enjoy smooth playback of 1080p HD video, or host a four-way video conference.

The R8 goes on sale in summer 2007 and is likely to cost around £80,000 in Britain.

This will be Audi's first foray into the supercar market, and the newcomer will look very much like the Le Mans concept car pictured here.

Designed to get the atmosphere at dinner parties warmed up in a jiffy, the ice cool Home Bar Side-by-Side refrigerator also chucks out ice and filtered water from its door-mounted dispenser.

FIREFOX or INTERNET EXPLORER?

In early November 2004, the Mozilla Firefox web browser finally left behind its beta status and became an official release. Unlike the many other failed web browsers that came before it, Firefox is tipped to be the best prospect yet in toppling Microsoft's Internet Explorer from the top browser spot.

Before the mid 1990's, Netscape Navigator was the top web browser in use around the globe due to its wealth of functionality and relatively quick speed. Microsoft moved into this market so aggressively that they more or less wiped Netscape off the face of the earth (Microsoft faced court action for this).

As time went on, developers started building sites that were 'best viewed' on Internet Explorer. Often this meant that sites were not viewable on alternative browsers due to the use of Microsoft proprietary technology and deviations from the set industry standards that Internet Explorer encouraged.

Mozilla Firefox is the only alternative web browser on the market to seriously address these issues and provide real competition to Internet Explorer. Firefox excels in the following areas:

Security

Firefox is more secure than Internet Explorer because it is not integrated with the operating system. Unlike Internet explorer, it does not have the majority of hackers and virus writers in the world trying to break into it.
Speed
The Firefox rendering engine is faster than Internet Explorer's.
Functionality
Firefox provides tabbed viewing, meaning you only need one window open to view multiple pages.
